A redesign is the right move when your site looks dated, loads slowly or no longer matches your business. However, a careless redesign can wipe out years of search rankings overnight. That’s why every redesign I do starts with an audit and a plan, not with a new theme.
Signs your website needs a redesign#
- It takes more than three seconds to load on a phone.
- It’s hard to read or use on a small screen.
- You need a developer for every small change.
- It runs on a heavy page builder or dozens of plugins.
- It no longer reflects what you sell or how you work.
- Visitors arrive, but they don’t call, book or buy.

How I redesign a website without losing rankings#
- Audit. First, I check your current site’s speed, plugins and search rankings, so we know what’s working and what’s holding it back.
- Plan. Then we decide together what to keep (content, URLs and rankings) and what to drop.
- Redesign. I redesign every page in Figma, and you approve it before the rebuild starts.
- Rebuild. I rebuild the site clean and lean, move your content across and set up 301 redirects for any address that changes.
- Relaunch. It goes live, faster than before, with your rankings protected and a walkthrough so you can run it yourself.
SEO for a website redesign#
Most of the risk in a redesign comes from changed addresses and missing content. So before launch, I make sure to:
- Keep page addresses the same wherever possible.
- Add a 301 redirect from every old address that changes to its new home.
- Carry over the page titles, descriptions and headings that already rank.
- Keep your images, alt text and internal links.
- Submit the new sitemap to Google Search Console, then watch for errors after launch.
WordPress website redesign#
Most of the sites I redesign are WordPress sites that have grown slow over the years. Swapping a heavy page builder and a pile of plugins for a lean build usually makes the biggest difference to speed. As a result, pages load faster, rank better and are easier to edit. If you only need the speed, see website speed optimisation.
Redesigns for businesses everywhere#
I’m based in Melbourne, Australia, and I work with clients in Australia, the US, the UK and around the world. Because everything runs through Fiverr, your time zone doesn’t matter: messages, files and payments stay in one place, and payment is only released to me when your order is complete.
Common questions#
Will I lose my Google rankings after a redesign?#
Not if it’s planned properly. Keeping your URLs, content and page titles, and redirecting anything that moves, protects the rankings you’ve earned. Short dips can happen while Google re-crawls the site, but they usually settle quickly.
Can you keep my current content?#
Yes. I move your existing text, images and blog posts across, and we can improve them along the way.
Do I have to move away from WordPress?#
No. I can redesign your site on WordPress, keep it on Elementor, or rebuild it in HTML or React if that suits you better.
