About Jay, a freelance web developer in Melbourne

I’m Jay, a freelance web developer and UI/UX designer based in Melbourne, and the founder of codeJay. For more than eight years I’ve designed and built websites and web apps for small businesses, startups, agencies and professionals, in Australia and around the world.

How I got here#

I started freelancing on Fiverr with a blank profile: no reviews, no clients and no portfolio. One project at a time, that grew into a business. Today I’m a vetted Fiverr Pro and a Top Rated Seller, with hundreds of reviews from clients around the world.

In October 2025, Fiverr featured me on a billboard in Times Square, New York. It was a proud moment, and a reminder of how far a blank profile can go. I wrote about the whole journey in From blank profile to Times Square billboard.

What I do#

I look after the whole website, so you don’t have to manage a designer, a developer and an SEO specialist separately.

How I work#

Every project starts with a design in Figma that you approve before anything is built. Then I build the site for phones first, tune it for speed and set up the on-page SEO basics, so it’s ready for Google from day one. At handover, you get simple fields (or Elementor) to update text and images yourself, plus a walkthrough.

Because one person handles your project from first sketch to launch, nothing gets lost between a strategist, a designer and a developer. And because everything runs through Fiverr, your messages, files and payments stay in one place, and payment is only released to me when your order is complete.

Who I work with#

I’m in Melbourne, but my work happens online, so I work with businesses across Australia, from Sydney to Perth, as well as clients in the US, the UK and beyond.

Australian clients include Women Love Tech, where I’ve developed, maintained and optimised the websites of founder and publisher Robyn Foyster, as well as Durotech Industries, lessons2drive and labelledigital. I’ve also written for Women Love Tech.
